My baby girl's 5th birthday...

We did a 2 part simple 5th birthday this year. I made a butterfly cake for the fam (my parents were able to be out which was great) the night before her birthday. We did this partly so that daddy and grandpa could participate, and also because her pre-school the next day was doing a St. Patty's Day/Everlea's birthday party complete with cupcakes etc., and then later that day we were going to a bakery/tea house for more sweet treats. So it worked out well that way.

Everlea's teachers went all out for her b-day which was really fun, now that the class size is considerably smaller after the building changeover, the kids get alot of attention which is nice. They gave her a tiara and earrings, a cute purse and a really nice disney princess sleeping bag. I hope she doesn't expect teacher's gifts like this every year. ha ha

After school, her buddy Carly came over for the afternoon, then us girls headed to Sweetea's Bakery and Teahouse for a tea party and some sweet treats. 2 other girls Lauren and Emily joined us along with their moms (also my mom), we had a fun time and Ev really enjoyed herself.

Some of her gifts included 5 painted lady caterpillars that will turn into chrysallides then butterflies over the course of the next few weeks. It came with a butterfly mesh garden where they can hatch, you can observe and then let them free. I'm looking forward to this process probably as much as Ev is. :) She also got some Polly Pockets (she asked for them), an electronic kitchen, a tutu, a fishing pole from daddy, a little garden mansion that grows grasses and clover once you plant the seeds, a pretty bride dress-up dress, a photo album, a pretty scarf and soap, color wonder disney princess poster, to name some of what I remember. She also got several fun pkgs in the mail from friends and family and she's enjoyed the books, gift cards, $, disney princess stick on board etc. A big thanks to all the gift givers and senders. :)

All and all it was a fun birthday and a nice way to celebrate our little girl's 5th year of life.

I'm hoping the next 5 years don't fly by like these first 5 have!

Yeah five years is a blink, and 21 will be upon you two before you know it! Amazing I still think myself as 30 something, like when we started raising a family. The mirror and scale tells a different story however. Enjoy her, and her new sibling on the way. Each stage is special, each age is precious, but life doesn't stand still, I guess that's good, cause if it did, it wouldn't be life. Love and hugs to you all.
